چکیده

An OFDM-CDMA system that utilizes the channel-correlation in both time and frequency to reduce multiple access interference is proposed. Orthogonal Walsh-Hadamard codes are used for spreading and in order for the codewords to stay orthogonal at the receiver, the channel response must be flat in both time and frequency. A frequency selective fading channel will, however, distort the codewords and thus introduce correlation. The proposed system, named Time-Frequency Localized CDMA (TFLCDMA), places the codeword-chips in rectangular blocks on the time-frequency-grid in a such a way that the difference in scaling of the codeword chips is reduced. The proposed system is found to outperform competing schemes, such as Multi-Carrier (MC) and Multi-Carrier Direct-Sequence CDMA (MC-DS), in terms of bit error rate. The MCand MC-DS-CDMA systems are special cases of the proposed scheme.

Derivations of a Unified Analysis for Direct-Sequence CDMA in the Downlink of OFDM Systems

This technical report presents details and derivations for the analysis in [1], where the bit-error-rate performance of Multi-Carrier CDMA, Multi-Carrier Direct-Sequence CDMA, Time-Frequency Localized CDMA, and OFDMA is addressed. Closed-form expressions for the cdf, pdf and mgf for the symbol-SNIR, are derived for the system model presented in [1]. As side results in these derivations, closed-...

The effect of carrier frequency offsets on downlink and uplink MC-DS-CDMA

In this paper, we study the sensitivity of uplink and downlink MC-DS-CDMA to carrier frequency offsets, assuming orthogonal spreading sequences. For both uplink and downlink MC-DS-CDMA, we show that the performance rapidly degrades for an increasing ratio of maximum frequency offset to carrier spacing. We point out that the degradation in the uplink is larger than in the downlink, because only ...

Transmit Beamforming for SDMA in Multi-Carrier CDMA Downlink on a Per Subcarrier Basis

In this paper, transmit Beamforming (BF) for Space Division Multiple Access (SDMA) is studied in the downlink of wireless cellular systems based on Multi-Carrier Code Division Multiple Access (MC-CDMA). This combination allows a separation of users’ signals in space, thanks to BF, and frequency, thanks to CDMA, and thus improves mitigation of multiple access interference. We propose to perform ...
